History Made: Virginia HS Senior Lands First Successful Quadruple Axel In Competition

A Marshall High School senior made history at a recent figure skating competition in New York, officials said.

Ilia Malinin successfully landed the first quadruple axel in a competition, making Fairfax County very proud, according to the Fairfax County Public Schools' website.

Malinin's accomplishment comes after he served as the first alternate for the Olympic Team in Beijing this year, the website said.
